VOGUE borrows its line from Madonna’s legendary song and video — that anthem of beauty, confidence, and the unapologetic art of owning the moment. This piece taps straight into that energy. The horse isn’t just standing there; it’s posing — effortlessly elegant, fully aware of its own presence, and not remotely shy about it. There’s a kind of natural glamour in the tilt of the head, the set of the shoulders, the sense that the camera has arrived just in time to catch the perfect angle *this is not a self portrait in horse form

It’s about sheer beauty, yes, but also about knowing it — expressing it without hesitation, without irony. A creature completely at ease in its skin. “Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it” becomes less instruction and more celebration.

VOGUE is part of my ongoing series Sketchy Thoughts — a playful, growing body of work that parodies the kind of “art” we see for sale today. It’s a spontaneous visual diary of what I see and feel around me. Created entirely on my iPad, these sketches appear wherever I happen to be — in the bath, on a plane, in the car, or on a beach somewhere — capturing thoughts before they slip away. Each piece begins with a passing emotion, a lyric, or a fleeting idea, turning quick impressions into lasting images.

Together, the works in Sketchy Thoughts explore the immediacy of perception and the humour woven through everyday life — quick, expressive, a little cheeky, and always rooted in the moment.
