'Lesser centaury (centaurium pulchellum) or dréimire beag as gaeilge is a protected native irish plant.
This tiny wildflower is found in grassy open areas, sand dunes, salt marshes and cliffs.
It can be identified by its five (sometimes four) pink petals. It doesn’t have leaves at the base but rather has oval leaves that appear in opposite pairs along the narrow stem. It rarely grows any higher then 10cms and flowers between June and August.'
