Catch Me If You Can
Digital sketch on iPad — Limited Edition Print
Catch Me If You Can is part of my ongoing series called Sketchy Thoughts - a playful, growing body of work, a parody of the kind of ‘art’ we see for sale today. I guess it's a spontaneous visual diary of what I see around me. Created entirely on my iPad, these sketches appear wherever I happen to be, in the bath, on a plane, in the car, or on a beach somewhere, capturing thoughts before they slip away. Each piece is sparked by a passing sentiment, a song, or a fleeting idea, turning quick impressions into lasting images.
This piece hints at movement and mystery — a zebra half-revealed through loose, fluid strokes of black, white, and gold. The scrawled text, “Catch me if you can”, adds a teasing, elusive energy. It plays with the tension between visibility and disguise, echoing the animal’s natural camouflage and the human instinct to chase what’s just out of reach. *Stephen writes wondering if this text actually works
Together, the works in Sketchy Thoughts explore humour, perception, and the immediacy of everyday thought — quick, expressive, and rooted in the moment.
