About John Ryan, and his lovely pots

Stephen has know John Ryan for a few years (I'm pretty sure these potters have a secretive 'Free Potters' society thing going on!). And aside from being adamant that John's a lovely guy, he has always rated John as being a great contemporary Irish studio potter, one who is forward thinking and able to respond to customers needs and wants and adapt his, our, traditional pottery forms. John isn't making sponge-ware pots, he's making new pots for a new Ireland.

As a maker John is confident & thoughtful, he has an eye for detail, and is honest in his throwing, this guy has no airs and graces about him - he makes honest, simple, functional pots for everyday use.

John's pots look great mis-matched. People often buy a random selection as the forms and colours often pull the pots together. As with many of our potters, this work will change and evolve over time, so our advice is that if you like it, then buy it before it's gone!

We have categorised John's pots by colour, shape & function - there is a small number of forms but when you incorporate the number of colours you have a huge body of work to choose from!

Colour Choices -

Hot Pink, Charcoal, Baby Pink, Boy Blue, Candy Yellow, Soft Grey, Irish Green

Looking after your pottery

We advise that with all handmade goods that you take extra care with them.

And as with all hand thrown pottery we do not advise washing them in a dishwasher (although we do wash them this way ourselves, and have never had a problem!) Pots, like people, need a little bit of love..
