'The marsh saxifrage saxifraga hirculus is an endangered native Irish plant. Once found in abundance throughout Europe but now only rarely found.
In Ireland, the marsh saxifrage has reduced significantly and today has been identified in County Antrim, County Mayo and County Sligo. The removal of peat, afforestation, over grazing and drainage all contribute to this decline.
Ireland has an international responsibility to preserve these identified locations.'
